The Trend—The Ponytail

Summer is the season for ponytails. They are the perfect way to get your hair off of your face and neck during those hot, humid, sticky temperatures, while still looking feminine and pretty.

I have only known one ponytail, slicked back with its base resting upon the lower half of my crown. But the John Barrett Salon is introducing a fabulous new set of ponys through their recently opened ponytail bar. The ponytail bar opened in late July as a progression of the Barrett Braid Bar, which amazed hair hopefuls last summer.

Walk into the John Barrett Salon, which is located at 754 Fifth Avenue, and you are presented with the ponytail book, a menu of six select styles to choose from.

The High Pony: This look is great because you can either go super tight and sleek or for a more fun, playful effect with ligh to heavy, thick curls.

The Low Pony: With the low pony, there are options as well. Alternate between a messy, casual look and the sophisticatedly pulled back.

The Braided Pony: Braids offer a nonchalant air, but they are still a very sexy style.

The Sculpted Pony: Try this cool Grecian twist to a longtime American classic.

The Mid Crown Pony: Look effortlessly cool in this chic up-do.

The Top Knot: Don’t worry, this intense look will have all the attention on you.

The great thing about these tails is that they only take about 30 minutes to create. Got a hot date? An important job interview? Stop by the salon for a quick, new do.
