88 Rue Du Rhone Watches

88 Rue Du Rhone Watches *
88 Rue Du Rhone Arrive In The UK

Having been created by the grandsons of prestigious watch maker Raymond Weil, 88 Rue Du Rhone watches couldn’t come from a higher pedigree. Now launching in the UK, these prestigious watches are set to take the market by storm, offering a completely different option to many of the more simplistic sophisticated watches that come at much higher price points.

These Swiss made watches are named after the address on the road that runs through the heart of Geneva. The catch is that the address is not a house, a shop or even a building, it is in fact the space where the River Rhone enters Lake Geneva – a stunning location that summarises the beauty of Switzerland.

The significance of the number 8 can not be overlooked either. In China particularly, the number 8 is seen as a lucky number that signifies good fortune and wealth, so with the double 8 featuring on each and every one of the 88 Rue Du Rhone watches, the essence of good fortune is something that has been integrated into the heart of the brand.

Men’s and women’s watches will be available from 88RDR, starting at a very reasonable £275, up to a top price of £2,195. The real stars of the range though come from the men’s side. Simple, slim sophisticated designs are straight out of the Raymond Weil handbook, but they come with a twist – a more contemporary feel that in some instances includes an injection of colour in the stitching, or a sleek black case.

The exquisite designs combined with the inherent Swiss excellence in manufacture means that these accessibly priced watches are the perfect pieces to bring luxury watches to a whole new generation – a more youthful generation – the luxury watch buyers of tomorrow who are now able to buy today.

88 Rue Du Rhone watches have selected The Watch Hut as one of the exclusive launch partners for the UK, where they are expected to become one of the most popular prestige watch brands on the market.

This Year’s Trend in Homecoming Fashions

By Rachel Barnard

When it comes to dresses for 2012 homecoming, this season’s it’s all about classic styles, bold color, showing a little skin with sexy legs and toned backs, and embellishments galore! At this year’s homecoming dance the dress styles will transcend basic trends. It’s no longer about the bubble skirt that every girl must-have! It’s more about classic styles with show-stopping elements like beading, sequins, or cut outs in just the right spot, which will demand the night’s attention.

So say goodbye to the tulip skirt—that was so last year—and make way for the five stunning homecoming fashion trends of 2012…

1. Bold color that pops!

If you want to get noticed the second you walk into the homecoming dance—I’m talking about when you’re date sees and his jaw latterly drops at you glittering amongst all the black and white numbers.—don’t be afraid of color. So your true colors with a dress that’s pure eye candy pink, gem blue, vibrant eggplant, or even shimmering gold. Multi-hued prints will also be big this season, such as the peacock print that blends purples, lavenders, and dark blues and greens in one pattern. Floral prints are also very popular for fall in deep reds, orange, and fall gold/yellow. If it’s bold, it’s basically in style. And because prints and loud colors vary so much, and in so many fabrics, you can choose to strut your favorite color, as long as it’s loud and bold, without any fear of being outdated.

2. Classic black and white

Let’s face it; you can’t ever go wrong with a classic black or white homecoming gown, regardless of the style or fabric. Sweeping floor length, whimsical tea length, or super flirty and short, all shapes and silhouettes look good in traditional black or white. Not only do these colors create a sense of old Hollywood glamour, you can use just about any bold color or statement pattern to accessorize them—with jewelry, belts, shoulder wraps, shoes, hair accessories, and hair and make-up styles. You can never go wrong with a classic color like black or white and if you’re trying to save a bit of money, both are extremely versatile and can be dressed up or down and worn to other events with the right accessories.

3. Cute and flirty cocktail dresses

Nothing says a good time like a short, flirty cocktail dress. And this season, cocktail has gone even shorter with styles that literally skim the mid thigh. Let’s face it, if you’ve got killer gams, don’t be afraid to strut your very best asset with a short homecoming dress that leaves zero doubt about your fabulous legs!

4. It’s all about embellishments

Beading, sequins, colorfully stitched ruching, and lace around the skirt bodice—at 2012 homecoming it’s all about the gorgeous detailing on dresses. So don’t be afraid to show a little sparkle around the neckline, trim, sides, and waist of your homecoming gown.

5. Sex it up with a backless number

Take it from Angelina Jolie showing a little back can be sexy and still leave a lot to the imagination. It’s all about long gowns with plunging V-cut backs, swooping backs, racy cut outs, and thin straps over the back. The great thing about a backless dress compared to one with deep V cleavage is that it’s still tasteful.

The Trend: Animal Jewels

Just the sight of an owl or turtle on a piece of jewelry has me automatically reaching my pockets for an immediate purchase. As of now, I own about four owl necklaces, two owl rings and two turtle necklaces. I haven’t found a turtle ring yet but be sure that as soon as I spot one, it will be mine. (Also keep a look out and let me know if any pops up >.<)

Is it the cuteness that makes these critter-like gems such a tempting buy? It might be the rustic quality that wildlife adds to a piece, connecting us city people with the natural world. Or can it be the fierceness in having a ferocious creature on such an opulent accessory?

Whatever it may be, I know for sure that jewelers are keeping the wild in mind.

It is in Chopard’s gecko inspiration, which is portrayed in accessories such as cuffs and the blue, jeweled bracelet shown above.

Massimo Dutti demonstrates the delicacy of a dragonfly in this simply yet beautiful golden bracelet.

Uterque lends lavishness to the long legs of a giraffe in their necklace.

For those of us with more leaner wallets, there are many other affordable alternatives that look great for the everyday. Take a look at Payless’ styles of owl rings.

One of the benefits of going to The New School is that we are so close to New York City’s amazing shops and vendors.

Have a break in between classes? Take quick a walk down Broadway. From Union Square all the way down to Chinatown, the sidewalks are dotted with street vendors selling their own variations on the animal jewel. In one afternoon, you’ll be able to find numerous rings, necklaces, bracelets and earrings of various animal confections. And all for under twenty-five bucks.

2012 Fall Must Haves – Over The Knee Boots

2012 Fall Must Haves – Over The Knee Boots. Break out the tall boots and skinny jeans this season, because over the knee boots are taking over.

// ]]>
Sleek and sexy legs can be further emphasized with the look of over the knee boots. Designers loved the feeling of slender legs on the runway as seen in shows Alexander Wang, Bottega Veneta, Givenchy and even Gucci showcased over the knee boot styles. If you don’t think you have the legs to try styles that go all the way over the knee, you can still get away with showing slightly under the knee cap silhouettes. Just remember to opt for styles that are tall and long and give the illusion of slim long leg. Look below for a few sexy styles you can show your legs off in.

Oliver Spencer Cord Navigator Jacket

Oliver Spencer Cord Navigator Jacket *
Oliver Spencer Cord Navigator Jacket: my-wardrobe Exclusive

With heritage a hot topic in menswear, there’s never been a more appropriate time to invest in this corduroy navigator jacket by eclectic British designer, Oliver Spencer.

Humble corduroy has been a rustic menswear staple for as long as anyone can remember; more commonly associated with the country and middle-aged men, in more recent months this durable and warming fabric has enjoyed a marked sartorial renaissance.

Modernised and polished-up for AW12 with finer forms and sleeker cuts, this once rather grubby fabric was widely seen in its new guise across international menswear collections, and deservedly so; despite its traditionally passé reputation, corduroy is essentially a ribbed velvet, which is, after all, the favoured cloth of Kings.

Founding his namesake company in 2002, the self-taught tailor set out to create a line of clothing that reflected his own sartorial tastes. Passionate about tradition and sartorial provenance, Spencer remains rooted to his founding design principles of reinventing classic, quality styles with a modern twist.

A world exclusive for luxury online retailer my-wardrobe, the cord navigator jacket takes the best of old-school convention and infuses it with fresh and contemporary character. Perfectly illustrating the eclectic Britishness of the label, this skilfully-executed style typifies Spencer’s successful design formula.

Crafted from a heavy-duty pure-cotton corduroy, the jacket features kooky mismatched buttons and multiple patch pockets that make the design both a style-savvy and practical outerwear option for the autumn months.

Suitable for town or country wear, this nonchalant yet refined cover-up will form the sartorial backbone of any well-put-together look; simply throw it on over a fine-gauge merino knit and lean denim and you’re good to go.

Available now at my-wardrobe.com, priced at £245.

Mr. Hare Flagship Store Set To Open In London

Mr. Hare Flagship Store Set To Open In London *
First UK Store Opening For Mr. Hare

Well-shod gentleman everywhere should be skipping with anticipation at the impeding opening of the first UK flagship store by luxury cobbler Mr. Hare, on London’s exclusive Stafford Street.

Situated on the quiet Mayfair lane sandwiched in between Old Bond Street and Dover Street, the store will sit at a focal point of the capital’s most illustrious and fashionable enclave.

Whilst sampling the local fare at a tapas restaurant on a trip through Andalusia in 2008, London-born Marc Hare found himself admiring the handcrafted elegance of the traditional woven shoes of the elderly Iberian gentleman at the next table. In the process of pondering over alterations he wished to make to give the shoes a contemporary edge, Mr. Hare, the brand, was established.

Citing his label as “one man’s selfish pursuit of great shoes”, all Mr. Hare’s natty-cool designs are hand-fashioned from premium materials by skilled Tuscan cordwainers.

With a solid reputation for reinventing dapper classic footwear styles in unconventional hues, the brand has gained a steadfast following amongst industry style leaders and high-profile figures, with its designs stocked by the prestigious Dover Street Market, Paris’ Colette and leading online luxury retailer, Mr. Porter.

The Stafford Street store, scheduled to open on the 14th of September, will boast 400 sq ft of retail space, housing the AW12 collection as well as limited edition designs exclusive to the flagship.

Soon to become the go-to destination of well-heeled urban dwellers, we can’t wait for the doors to open to catch a whiff of that tantalisingly soft leather…

The Mr. Hare Flagship Store is scheduled to open on 14th September at 8, Stafford Street, London, W1.

Emma Watson grown up for T Style

There’s not much about Emma Watson’s cover shoot for the New York Times T Style magazine that you’d call youthful. That’s an inevitability of spending your youth known to all as a sweet, magic wand yielding school girl. Watson seems keen to remind the world that she’s not that little girl anymore.

Rather than do that by way of sexed-up dresses, her shoot for T Style presents her in elegant, ‘60s inspired makeup and a wardrobe of tailored coats and androgynous suit cuts.

Lara Stone makes toughness elegant for Vogue Korea

In the absence of scenery or fantastical backdrops, some editorials are purely about the styling. For Vogue Korea’s August 2012 issue, Fashion Editor Lee Ji Ah has Lara Stone as a living mannequin, dressed in outfits that flit between the feminine (coats or dresses elegantly paired with heels), the tailored (a particularly strong yet minimal look of masculine pants, white top, and nude clutch) and the ultimately tough (leather jackets and rockstar waxed skinny jeans). While disparate thematically all the looks have a clean minimalist feel that ties them together.
