2012 MTV Video Music Awards (VMA’S) Fashion – Rihanna. Rhianna looked classically breath taking as she graced the red carpet.
She stunned in all white floor length gown that featured just the right amount of skin shown with a low black which tied to the side. Keeping up with her retro Hollywood feel, she opted for a red lip complete with baby doll eyes. She also showed off a a new cropped boy haircut that really make her cheekbones pop. Going for gold: Barbara Gomes shoot and video

Some people (I can count myself amoung them) are just drawn to metallic gold. Like the supposed magpie, like a moth to a flame… A sparkle of gold thread or burnished sequins, gold beads or metallic gold leather, especially when set against pitch black fabric, just jumps out at you from across a rack of clothing and you’re compelled to go pick it up. Perhaps that innate appeal is part what spurs on runway trends towards gold clothing, a trend we saw for spring 2012 that will no doubt carry over into fashion in fall 2012. Gold just speaks to richness and glamour and hidden treasure.

It also may be why the use of gold running right through Julia Kiecksee‘s latest shoot – Terrace Hill – is the styling element that stands out most.

Alvaro Mendez-Weinroth’s styling plays to the exotic. Liquid gold lamé dripping into the shape of a dress, a gold leather belt worn against white lingerie; a metallic gold swimsuit, bold gold jewellery, and of course a dusting of gold eyeshadow by makeup artist Doreen Gottschalch. In every shot both the styling and Kiecksee’s richly saturated photography play to model Barbara Gomes’s bronzed skin.
