The story in Dwayne Foong‘s shoot for Malaysian magazine Citta Bella is all told through the proximity of the protagonists. In the opening shot they’re across opposing sides of the room, but their body language speaks of a wordless sensuality and sexual tension. The ‘courtship’, as the photographer tags it, deepens as the shoot goes on, turning into a physical relationship.
Away from the Sapphic storyline created by Foong, the styling by Sun Khiew projects a youthful kind of glamour. Cutaways, crop tops and graphic prints on bodycon dresses all contribute to the mood while the hair by Siew Keng and makeup by Gavin Soh are at their best when they’re most classic: vintage inspired waves and red lips add drama to our protagonists’ love affair.
