The urban Pocahontas

“Earthy” and “native” are words Max Kopanygin would use to describe the influences behind his latest shoot, titled Chameleon Queen. True to that the tones applied by makeup artist Lucky Bromhead are all organic, applied with a futurist twist.

“We were going for a Neo-Pocahontas vibe,” says Kopanygin. That puts model Zoe somewhere between the grassy plains of nature and the concrete streets of the big city, and there’s a kind of magic to that idea. Whether it’s in a spray-painted look that’s this Pocahontas’ war paint, or gold sprinkled across her eyelids like autumn leaves, it’s the metallic hues that create the futuristic effect.
